Writers do a lot of daydreaming. We daydream about our characters and their stories, filling our minds and challenging our imaginations with “What ifs?” And once we have a publishing contract, we think a great deal about what it will be like to hold this book in our hands, and then to see it, open, in the hands of others. What will draw our potential readers to pick it up, turn it over to read the blurb on the back, page through it and dip into a sentence or two? Why, the cover, of course, despite what our mothers told us about not judging books by their covers.

I am able to envision stories and I devote long hours and many revisions to making my writing as wonderful as my vision for it. But when it comes to designing just the right cover? That’s beyond me! I’m so grateful for the cover designers at Kregel. They have crafted a beautiful cover for The Unlikely Yarn of the Dragon Lady, one that will inspire a reader tuck it under her arm and head to the check out with that delicious sense of possibility that comes with finding an interesting book. And it doesn’t stop there! As she reads, she’ll see that there is a surprise or two hidden in the cover design, things that will reveal themselves as she reads.

You are already my readers (thank you so much!) so you get to see the cover even before the book comes out. Drum roll, please!

Ta-da!
